The Adelaide Festival of Ideas aims to be an 'over the horizon' radar for public discussion. The object is to discern the ideas that will shape the coming decades, not just the coming months. It's an inspiring event that captures the imagination.
The theme for the Adelaide Festival of Ideas in 2009 is Pushing the Limits. More than 30 leaders in their field will discuss and engage with the public on major topics of concern today including generic engineering, population, water, health, astrophyics and freedom of speech. You can take part in more than 50 free daytime sessions, and three ticketed evening sessions.
Look at issues as diverse as the geopolitics of tolerance among nations in our region and the pursuit of scientific limits in medicine and the physical world. Take part in discussions of the power and consequences of the ethics of exploration which has shaped, and perhaps now risks, the modern world.
